As Paul puts it in these verses, &#8220;As you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him&#8221; (2:6).\u00c2\u00a0That simple marching order encompases all that is required of the believer in Christ.<\/p>\n<p>In his sermon, Ryan gave us several simple reminders from this text that we need continually between the comings of Christ.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s nothing greater in all the world than to know Christ, to be known by him, and to be \u00e2\u20ac\u0153firm in faith.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/li>\n<li>You can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t grow where you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re not planted. Are you planted in Christ? Have you received him?<\/li>\n<li>The soil we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re planted in is\u00c2\u00a0Christ and his gospel \u00e2\u20ac\u201c only and always Christ. We don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t need another soil.<\/li>\n<li>He planted us there \u00e2\u20ac\u201c not we ourselves: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153By his doing you are in Christ\u00e2\u20ac\u009d (1 Cor 1:30).<\/li>\n<li>If we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re planted in him, he is growing us; he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s building us up\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6even when it feels like he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not.<\/li>\n<li>Nevertheless there is genuine responsibility \u00e2\u20ac\u201c we are to grow, to read, pray, give, serve, love, study\/meditate, discipline ourselves, etc. Give yourself to these with all seriousness and effort.<\/li>\n<li>No insignificant part of the Christian life is to be overflowing in thankfulness. Work at it.
