Beale, Part 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Of all the books in the Bible, the book of Revelation may be the most universally intriguing. Well, our speaker for Clarus, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.desertspringschurch.org\/clarus\/speakers\/\">G.K. Beale<\/a> has written quite a bit on this book of the Bible, including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0802825370\/desesprichur-20\">a commentary<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When he was with us previously for Clarus <a href=\"http:\/\/www.desertspringschurch.org\/clarus\/past_conferences\/\">in 2007<\/a>, Dr. Beale delivered <a href=\"http:\/\/www.desertspringschurch.org\/messages\/By_Speaker\/G_K_Beale\/\">several helpful talks<\/a> on the subject for that year&#8217;s theme, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.desertspringschurch.org\/clarus\/past_conferences\/\">From Symbolism to Significance: The Book of Revelation<\/a>. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Here are two popular talks from that year&#8217;s conference:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.desertspringschurch.org\/messages\/Date\/MAY_18_2007.php\">What You Revere, You Resemble<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.desertspringschurch.org\/messages\/Date\/MAY_19_2007_a.php\">The Key to Understanding Symbolism<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Justin Taylor\u00c2\u00a0summarized\u00c2\u00a0Dr. Beale&#8217;s talk on symbolism\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/thegospelcoalition.org\/blogs\/justintaylor\/2010\/07\/05\/beale-on-the-key-to-understanding-symbolism-and-interpreting-the-book-of-revelation\/\">this way<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Professor Beale shows that the popular approach\u00e2\u20ac\u201dinterpret the verses literally unless you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re forced to interpret them symbolically\u00e2\u20ac\u201dis actually backward. He argues that if you take Revelation 1:1\u00c2\u00a0literally\u00e2\u20ac\u201despecially in light of its OT allusion to the book of Daniel\u00e2\u20ac\u201dthen you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll properly interpret the rest of the book symbolically.
