Today begins our three day conference<\/a> on the nature and importance of Scripture. Given our theme, “Scripture: God Speaks,” we will be learning about and reflecting on what God has said about what His Word is and what God’s Word does. Like\u00c2\u00a0Psalm 119<\/a>,\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Psalm 19:7-11<\/a> not only tells us what the Word is, but stirrs our affections for God’s Word in doing so. Today especially, this is a good Scripture with which to start our day:<\/p>\n

The law of the LORD is perfect,\u00c2\u00a0reviving the soul;
\nthe testimony of the LORD is <\/span>sure,\u00c2\u00a0making wise\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>the simple;<\/p>\n

the precepts of the LORD are right,\u00c2\u00a0rejoicing the heart;
\nthe commandment of the LORD is <\/span>pure,\u00c2\u00a0enlightening the eyes;<\/p>\n

the fear of the LORD is clean,\u00c2\u00a0enduring forever;
\nthe rules <\/span> of the LORD are <\/span>true,\u00c2\u00a0and righteous altogether.<\/p>\n

More to be desired are they than\u00c2\u00a0gold,\u00c2\u00a0even much\u00c2\u00a0fine gold;
\nsweeter also than honey\u00c2\u00a0and drippings of\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>the honeycomb.<\/p>\n

Moreover, by them is your servant warned;
\nin keeping them there is great reward.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

May God grant us to see His Word better for what it is through our time together this weekend. May we know its perfection, its purity, and its truth. And may God’s Word revive our souls, enlighten our eyes, warn us, and be to us far sweeter than honey.<\/p>\n
