Last week we published a blog<\/a> detailing a number of Bible reading plans for you to consider ahead of the first of the year. Yesterday, Justin Taylor published what has become an anual post<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0summarizing\u00c2\u00a0a number of different plans.\u00c2\u00a0If you’re still considering different reading plans or have yet to survey the options, this is a great place to start.<\/p>\n

If having too many options is actually a reason for discouragement, that’s understandable. It is difficult to fully evaluate all your options when you can’t actually test them out. If you are happy to decide between two recommendations, consider George Guthrie’s “Read the Bible for Life<\/a>,” a chronological Bible reading plan, or the Discipleship Journal “Bible Reading Plan<\/a>,” by NavPress, which takes you through the entire Bible by reading from four different places each day.<\/p>\n

Of course, there’s no rule that we should be reading the whole Bible in one year, though that’s a fine and fruitful goal. Whatever our plan and whatever our pace, may our lives resonate with the experience of the blessed man\u00c2\u00a0described\u00c2\u00a0in the first Psalm:<\/p>\n

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.
