It&#8217;s even more important than eating regularly. As Jesus said, &#8220;Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God&#8221; (Matthew 4:4).<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re looking for a Bible Reading plan, Justin Taylor posted today his annual\u00c2\u00a0survey of options, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thegospelcoalition.org\/blogs\/justintaylor\/\">How to Read the Whole Bible in 2015<\/a>.&#8221; If you&#8217;re looking for more of a pattern for ongoing reading rather than a plan to read the Bible in a year, <a href=\"http:\/\/kerdos.wordpress.com\/2014\/12\/30\/2ot-2nt-the-no-checkbox-bible-reading-plan-for-2015\/\">here&#8217;s<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0a simple plan by Drew Hunter (my baby brother)\u00c2\u00a0summarized in his recent Tweet:\u00c2\u00a0&#8220;No check-box, no guilt, 2015 Bible-reading plan: two Old Testament, two New Testament chapters per day. Finish a book, pick another.&#8221; It just might be for you.<\/p>\n<p>While a read through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thegospelcoalition.org\/blogs\/justintaylor\/\">Justin&#8217;s post<\/a> should surface a good plan for you, here are a few plans to consider:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Chronological Reading Plan:<\/strong><em>\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Reading-Gods-Story-Chronological-Daily\/dp\/1433601125\/desesprichur-20\">Reading God\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Story: A Chronological Daily Bible<\/a><\/em>, by George Guthrie is a unique resource. This Bible is published with a one year daily reading plan in mind, ordering the Biblical material chronologically along the Bible\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s own narrative framework and includes a reading plan. George Guthrie has also published a one year chronological Bible reading plan,\u00c2\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Read-Bible-Life-Understanding-Living\/dp\/0805464549\/desesprichur-20\">Read the Bible for Life<\/a><\/em>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The M\u00e2\u20ac\u2122Cheyne Plan with Daily Devotional Commentary:<\/strong><em>\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Love-God-Companion-Discovering-Riches\/dp\/1581348150\/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&amp;sr=&amp;qid=\/desesprichur-20\">For the Love of God<\/a><\/em>\u00c2\u00a0is a two volume series of books written by D.A. Carson providing daily reading to supplement the\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/static.crossway.org\/excerpts\/1581348150.1.pdf\">M\u00e2\u20ac\u2122Cheyne reading plan<\/a>. This plan, named after its designer and Scottish minister in the 1800\u00e2\u20ac\u00b2s, Robert Murray M\u00e2\u20ac\u2122Cheyne, takes you through the Old Testament once and the Psalms and New Testament twice in one year.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Several Places A Day:<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0Crossway\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s\u00c2\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.esv.org\/assets\/pdfs\/rp.esv.study.bible.pdf\">Daily Bible Reading Plan<\/a><\/em>\u00c2\u00a0is available as a\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.esv.org\/assets\/pdfs\/rp.esv.study.bible.pdf\">PDF<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0form to print out as a series of bookmarks. This plan gets you through the Bible in a year, reading from several different places in the Bible each day.\u00c2\u00a0Crossway has published\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.esv.org\/resources\/reading-plans-devotions\/\">10 reading plans<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0to supplement the ESV, including RSS, email, audio, and print versions daily. Also, the\u00c2\u00a0Discipleship Journal \u00e2\u20ac\u0153<a href=\"http:\/\/www.navpress.com\/uploadedFiles\/15074%20BRP.dj.pdf\">Bible Reading Plan<\/a>,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d by NavPress, takes you through the entire Bible by reading from four different places each day.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Just a List of Chapters:\u00c2\u00a0<\/strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalspirituality.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/bible-reading-record.pdf\">The Bible Reading Record<\/a><\/em>, by Don Whitney, is a simple list of every chapter in the Bible. With this, you can read at whatever pace you like and keep track of what you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve read until you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re through the Bible. This, of course, wouldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t\u00c2\u00a0necessarily\u00c2\u00a0be a one year plan, but it could be. To get through the Bible\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s 1089 chapters in a year, you need to read an average of 3.25 chapters a day, which comes out to about four chapters per day if you commit to reading five days each week.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A Plan for Following God&#8217;s Redemption Plan:<\/strong> <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.trenthunter.net\/?page_id=1420\">The Bible Eater<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0<\/em>is a simple one-page print out with a list of every chapter in the Bible of you to read on a certain rhythm and check off as you go.
