Mission Statement

The Deacons at Desert Springs Church (DSC) exist to serve the needs of the body, thus enabling the Elders to devote themselves to prayer and the ministry of the word. According to 1 Timothy 3:8-13, deacons must be qualified, tested, and approved by the Lord and the Church. Through the deacons, the local church's charitable activities are effectively centralized and organized. The deacons are collectors of funds, distributors of relief, and agents of mercy. As is so admirably illustrated for us in Acts 6, the Deacon's office is essential to the local church and our witness for Christ. Deacons have the honor of modeling for the local church and a lost world God's compassion, kindness, mercy, and love. The Deacons seek out needs and administer service by utilizing the gifts of the DSC family, and by encouraging the body to contribute to meeting the needs of others.

1 Peter 4:10-11 (NASB)

As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Whoever speaks is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
