Coming Home….

2012 | by Clint | Category: Field Updates,Global,Rabinal Achi,Trips

As the Achi Medical/Physical Therapy/Water May 2012 mission team packs their bags for home and says goodbye to each other, please remember to pray for them as they transition back into life with family, friends and coworkers.  Going on a trip like this can cause a bit of culture shock both going and coming back.  This usually happens when your assumptions of communication, time management, reliability of transportation, personal space, bodily functions, physical, spiritual, and emotional endurance all take an unusually big hit all at once.

And if you know any of them personally, please invite them to coffee or lunch in the next few months to listen to what God did to them, what they learned about Him, and what He’s doing in and through the Achi people and our partners among them.

The team arrives back in Albuquerque, Lord willing, Sunday afternoon.  And many of them must turn right around and dive into family and work, giving them less than ideal time and space to decompress from an intense week of serving others non-stop.

Three young adults (Brian, Rachel, Sophia) and Marvin G. will be staying in Achi land until June 27th in order to further partner with our friends and Achi family on the ground.  We will use this blog to continue updating you on how you can pray and what God is up to in Achi land this summer and beyond.

Thank you for praying for the team.  Also, many of you donated funds directly to the team (or indirectly through your tithes and offerings to DSC), so we praise God for His provision through you.  May He receive the glory due His name here in Albuquerque, in Achi Land, and beyond.

Images from Medical Clinics in Chicholom

2012 | by Clint | Category: Field Updates,Global,Rabinal Achi,Trips

Besides being able to post some pictures that I’m taking off of various folks’ facebook, we really haven’t gotten much by word or text when it comes to updates.  Hopefully as the Medical/Physical Therapy team returns to the U.S., we will get more insight and stories from them.

In fact, if you know a person on the team at all, be sure to ask them intentionally about their trip, and what they saw God do, and how He used them and changed them on this trip.  And be sure to be ready to listen through their answers.  It is very critical that folks coming back from life changing trips like this have an audience with friends and family to share how the mission impacted them and others.

In the meantime, here are some pictures from medical clinics in Chicholom today and yesterday:

Some sort of presentation of or for the team in Chicholom. Likely a "thank you for coming in the name of Christ" with a returned "thank you for welcoming us in the name of Christ."
