Why Less is More in Global Missions

2012 | by Clint | Category: Global

As you may have seen on the main DSC Blog, our global missions partnership with the Rabinal Achi was highlighted last week on The Gospel Coalition Internal Outreach blog.

You can read the entire article here.  But the nuts and bolts of it are that we seek to increase our focus and impact through Global Missions by focusing our time, talent, and treasure as a church body on just a few core initiatives.  Our core initiatives are the Native American peoples of New Mexico and Arizona, the Rabinal Achi of Central Guatemala, and Muslims of North Africa.

Our former worship leader, Zach Nielsen, author of the Take Your Vitamin Z blog, recently wrote up a similar explanation to this strategy of global missions focus that is very helpful.

Christmas Store is Happening! Please Pray…

2012 | by Clint | Category: Christmas Store,Local,Love INC

As I type, there are several folks walking through our Christmas store at DSC, interacting with our members, and being loved by Jesus through us. This is also happening at our two sites on the Navajo Reservation, and will happen more this week at Juntos and East Central Ministries.

Already here at DSC we’ve had the chance to share the gospel with folks, pray for them, and invite them to the Christmas Ever Service. Please pray with us that God will use these services in deed to open up the door for ministry of the Word.  Some DSCers working at the store are offering rides to families that need them to the Christmas eve service.

We also have eight people already signed up for the budgeting class “Money and Me” we will be offering here at DSC in February as a part of our partnership with LOVE INC.

In all of this we are praying that God makes a way for relationships to develop and gospel to be proclaimed.

Please join us by praying and by watching out for new faces at church at Christmas and the coming weeks.  Say hello to an unfamiliar face.  Ask them how long they’ve been at DSC.  Make them feel welcomed and loved.

Want to Help Lead Christianity Explored?

2012 | by Clint | Category: Christmas Store,Local,Mission Opportunity

DSC leadership is looking for a Community Group, Men’s Huddle, Women’s Bible Study group, or even a group of friends or family to be equipped and trained to host Christiainty Explored starting sometime in February.  We are hoping to advertise the course at DSC’s Christmas store on December 15th, as well as help you promote it to friends, family, coworkers, and to those new to Christianity here at DSC.

One Life. What's it all about?

Two DSC Community Groups have offered this course in that past onsite at DSC on Sunday evenings.  They included both childcare and a dinner for the adults before the study got started each night.  In both cases, everyone in attendance got a thorough explanation answering of the following questions:

  1. Who is Jesus?
  2. Why did He have to die?
  3. What does this mean for me?

Some of the participants actually came to believe for the first time, and many of those helping to lead learned better how to articulate the gospel, lead someone in small group Bible study, and answer questions from a non-believer.  Our prayer is that more would hear the gospel through Christianity Explored, and that more would be equipped to share their faith through it as well.

Christianity Explored is a DVD based study that is 7 sessions in length and can be hosted here at the church, or, if you prefer, in a house or other public site.

We can help supply the materials from the missions budget, help with promotion, and will train your group in how to lead out in the discussion too. If you and your group are interested, please email to get started.
