Ministry Fair Preview – A Peaceful Habitation

We invite you to check out the ministry fair and invest your time and talent into just one or two of the ministries for 2013.  One of our Local Missions strategic partners at the ministry fair is A Peaceful Habitation (APH).  APH is a transitional home for recently incarcerated women, looking to follow Jesus Christ and honor him.  APH’s Executive Director, Leticia Chavez-Paulette writes:APH_NEW_LOGO

A Peaceful Habitation are homes like no other.  When you walk into the homes you literally feel the peace.  We have been serving women since 2007 and over 170 women have come through the doors of APH.  Not all have stayed, but all have been touched by the love of Jesus through His people in one way or another.  APH has two homes, one in Albuquerque (headquarters) and one in Las Cruces.  Albuquerque can house 6 women and 4 can be served in Las Cruces at one time.

The support from the Christian community is essential in the daily operations of A Peaceful Habitation.  85% of APH graduates remain free from incarceration 1 year after they complete the six month commitment to APH.  The support and dedication of the Christian and some non-Christian community is pivotal in the women’s journey in becoming positive contributing members of society.  We have many opportunities for volunteers: mentors, teachers, administrative and fundraising support, special outings for ladies, etc.

And here are some testimonies from or about recent clients of APH:

Doreen arrived at our Albuquerque home earlier this month. She is praying for a job as a medical assistant. She has a very positive attitude for change in her life. Her favorite Scripture is Proverbs 27:17!

Bianca a recent graduate of APH says: “I have realized that I am powerless without God and his will for my life. Thank you APH and thanks to the support I now have in my life. I feel great. I’m at a point where nothing is impossible with God.”

Might God be equipping and calling you to invest time and care into APH in 2014?  Drop by the APH table to find out more.
