Ministry Fair Preview – Native American Partnership

2014 | by Clint | Category: Mission Opportunity,Native American

Ministry Fair is coming this Sunday after both services in the Youth Room.  Read below for a preview of what Chuck and Cindy Harper are working on for this year with Western Indian Ministires in our Native American Partnership.  Might God be moving in you to serve in some capacity in this partnership in 2014?  Meet us at the Native American Partnership table to learn more and get involved.

Our calendars flipped and our ministry jumped into high gear!  The staff and volunteers at Western Indian Ministries (WIM) are praying and preparing for a big year!

Planning meetings for the 2014/2015 school year jump-started us. Our new principal and his family are raising support, and Hilltop Christian Academy is gearing up to reopen in the fall of 2014, with Pre K – 6th grade. We still need God to bring the students and 5 new missionary teachers!

We hosted a Navajo Capital pastors meeting and were encouraged to hear men begin to share and pray with one another.  We hope to continue that on a monthly basis. Chuck then left for California to represent Native America at the National Network of Youth Ministries meetings, to be strategic about reaching more teenagers with the Gospel. Then he went on to Phoenix for 3 days of blessings with about 60 other missionaries, hearing how God is still at work in Native America.

WIM welcomed two new missionary families- both launching new initiatives for  WIM – a one year Bible Certificate training course, in partnership with Indian Bible college, and a new “tentmaker” mission project;  where we hope to empower gifted professionals to open the door for the gospel through relationship – in the workplace.

This past weekend, Jan 17-18, Western Indian Ministries/ Christ for Native Youth hosted our annual Wisdom Keepers Conference, focusing on “the WORD”, its authority and inspiration.  This was a gathering of “disciple makers,” who serve Native American youth.

There are many exciting opportunities ahead for partnership with Native America.

One developing opportunity is the need for reservation and staff housing at Western Indian Ministries and surrounding community. It is our passion to bring the Gospel, sacrificially and with our hands and feet, to our friends that live in poverty on the Indian reservations in our state.  DSC will host the next Housing Committee meeting on January 28, at 3:30PM. Join us!

WIM is also inviting friends and local churches to a community work day, in the Window Rock/Houck area, on Saturday, March 8.   This will be a special day of interaction with families and churches from the Capital of the Navajo Nation.

WIM is also remodeling an old chapel / Bible School building into a short-term missions dorm and retreat center.    This is a major project and we need help from DSC, both in construction labor, finances and unskilled labor. Our prayer is that this dorm will be a retreat center AND a great place for teams to stay while extending our construction into the housing community on the reservation.

At least one other way for you to be involved in Native ministry is through prayer…for a youth worker, pastor, teacher or family.       We hope to create a new leadership group to lead the DSC partnership in Native Ministry.  If you are interested please contact Clint or Chuck.   Thanks so much for your prayers and partnership with Western Indian Ministries, and the Native American Partnership.
