How to Cultivate Evangelistic Instincts

2013 | by Clint | Category: Local

Who in your life (friends, family, neighbors, coworkers) are you praying will come to know Jesus this year?

Jim Stitzinger over at The Cripplegate blog gives 4 ideas for cultivating evangelistic instincts:

  1. Spring Load the Gospel – You may not always hold your Bible in hand when an evangelistic opportunity presents itself, so spring load the gospel message in mind. Be alert and stay ready!
  2. Live Well – Live with integrity (see 1 Peter 2:12)
  3. Engage your Mission field – God in His sovereign grace, chose to place you along side unbelievers – in your neighborhood, in your family and at work – are not there by accident. It’s not enough to talk about them, we must talk with them, using the natural points of connection in our lives to advance the gospel conversation… What step will you take to engage them with the gospel, even if it means relational unease? What will be your first step in your strategy to fully present Christ’s message of repentance and faith?  Every unbeliever in our life should both know our identity as a Christian and know our desire to see them come to believe in Christ as Savior and Lord.
  4. Relentlessly love other believers – “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” – Jesus (in John 13:35)

And may God use you to reach a friend, family member, or neighbor this year for Christ!

Not sure what to say to non-believers?  Not sure how to present the gospel clearly?  I will gladly meet with anyone at DSC for an hour to talk through how to use a one on one Bible study called Christianity Explained.  All you have to do is ask a friend, family member, or coworker if they’d like to study the Bible with you, and I can show you how to walk them through the book of Mark showing them who Jesus was, why he dad to die and resurrect, and then what it means to follow him.  Email local@desertspringschurch.org if you’d like to meet and be trained in this resource.  There is a booklet that we carry at the DSC book nook and it helps you prepare for each meeting with the non-believer.  I’ll walk you through the whole thing to make sure you are ready.
