Who Is Jesus?
Good Man? Good Teacher?

The Christmas Store

Vision
In December, Desert Springs Church (DSC) provides parents the opportunity to select gifts for their children (in some cases, children select gifts for their parents) who would normally be unable to. DSC partners with the Navajo Reservation, Juntos, ECM, and an elementary school in the DSC neighborhood in showing the love of Jesus to these families, enabling the parent/child to be the givers of these gifts rather than DSC.

The Christmas Store's vision is applied in two distinct ways. First, DSC members serve as a support for the evangelistic ministry of the school, church, or ministry, and second, seek to provide our partnerships with further opportunities to invest in the families involved. Rather than providing a handout to needing communities, our desire is to work along side them in the most effective manner as a means of expanding God's kingdom.

How It Works

  1. 3,500 tags hang on Christmas trees in the DSC foyer. You take several tags and spend between $1.00 - $10.00 for each item specified on the tag, rather than one item worth over $20.00.

  2. Bring the items back unwrapped with the tags attached by the first Sunday of December, and deposit the items in the appropriate box in the foyer.

  3. Lastly, email Carolyn Rush to sign up to help in one or more of the following stores:

    • Navajo Reservation on Saturday, December 10

    • Juntos on Monday, December 12 (Filled)

    • ECM Coop on Friday, December 16

    • DSC on Saturday, December 17

Each store is a unique experience based on the needs and culture of the people we are serving, thus flexibility is essential.

We encourage the church body not only to purchase gifts, but also go and serve together at a store. This is a great way to demonstrate Christ's love as a family.
