Today begins our\u00c2\u00a0three day conference<\/a> on “The Cross-Shaped Christian Life.” Across seven sessions, we will explore the myriad of ways in which the glorious work of Jesus Christ gives shape to our lives as those who are saved by and transformed by the cross.<\/p>\n

Here are some Scriptures to read as a primer for the weekend ahead:<\/p>\n

But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which1\u00c2\u00a0the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u201cGalatians 6:14<\/p>\n

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures,\u00c2\u00a0that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. . .
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u201c1 Corinthians 15:3-4<\/p>\n

And he said to all,\u00c2\u00a0\u00e2\u20ac\u0153If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.\u00c2\u00a0For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u201cLuke 9:23-24<\/p>\n

He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u201cRomans 8:32<\/div>\n

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,\u00c2\u00a0looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.\u00c2\u00a0Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u201cHebrews 12:1-3<\/p>\n

For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u201c1 Corinthians 1:8<\/p>\n

But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ.\u00c2\u00a0Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ\u00c2\u00a0and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith\u00e2\u20ac\u201dthat I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,\u00c2\u00a0that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.
