Praying for the Mission of VBS…

2013 | by Clint | Category: Local,Prayer

Please be in prayer for this year’s Vacation Bible School (VBS), here are some requests to get you praying:

  • that God would be glorified through VBS VBS 2013
  • that God would be pleased to prepare the hearts of all the children to hear His Word and respond in faith to the Gospel
  • that all of the children would learn more about Christ
  • that good, God-honoring friendships would develop among the children and adult volunteers while participating in VBS
  • that all of the children would be safe during VBS and free to have fun
  • that set-up on Sunday of the stage, foyer, and classrooms would go smoothly
  • that all of the volunteers would be blessed through their service and that they would serve with joyful hearts
  • that everything during the assembly each night would go smoothly and that there wouldn’t be any distractions that would hinder the children from hearing the Gospel presentation
  • for favor in the community and that VBS would be a means through which we can connect with and serve more people in our community
  • for parents, grandparents and siblings to be impacted by the Gospel through Friday night’s assembly

30 Days of Prayer for the Muslim World – July 9th to August 7th

2013 | by Clint | Category: Global,North Africa (SNAP),Prayer

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is a designated time for Muslims worldwide to observe as holy with an increased focus on prayer and fasting.  This annual observance is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam.  The month lasts 29-30 days based on the visual sightings of the crescent moon.  Fasting and prayer during Ramadan is obligatory for adult Muslims.  While fasting from dawn to sunset, Muslims refrain from consuming food, drinking liquids, smoking, and engaging in sexual relations.  Food and drink are served daily before and after sunset.  According to Islam, the rewards of fasting are many, but in this month they are believed to be multiplied.  [Source: Wikipedia]

Islam is a works based belief system.  It is through works (like fasting and prayer) that the follower obligates (in some ways) Allah (the god of the Qu’ran) to reward the follower.

As Christians, we believe Jesus is the Son of God, and we believe His words in John 14:6 – “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (ESV)

And Peter’s words “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12, ESV)

And because of this, we pray, even more during this season, that as Muslims do turn their hearts and minds toward spiritual things, that Jesus Christ would use His church and His Word to Mulsims toward Himself and toward the gospel of salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, as revealed in the Scriptures alone, to the glory of God alone.

Will you join us as we pray?
