Sunrise North Africa – It Begins.

Today marks the day when our first SNAP family hits the ground in North Africa.  Over 5 years of preparing our first SNAP family to mobilize toward the nations, and the day is finally here.  Because of the time difference, they will have already arrived in North Africa by the time you read this.  Please pray for them as they arrive, settle in, adapt to culture, build friendships, share the truth, and Lord willing, see fruit and plant churches.  Lord willing, our second family will hit the field in May/June of 2015.

And appropriately, just last week, as a church we surpassed a total of $500,000 given toward global and local church planting since we began raising funds in 2010.  If you’d like to support this mission but arent yet, it’s easy.  Click here to give one time to church planting or to set up regular giving.  You can read more about these church planting efforts here.

Now and for the coming weeks, please pray specifically for our first SNAP family:

  • That the kids to be able to adjust well, obey quickly, and trust their God through their parents as they move again.
  • That the parents will love each other well in the midst of the stress.
  • That relationships with partners and neighbors will be warm and inviting.
  • That they step right into a harvest!
  • For boldness and fearlessness as they seek to make friends and share the gospel
  • For the Spirit to do great things beyond what we could ask or imagine in North Africa!

Praise be to God that in a small way today, He is answering our prayers for “the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” (Matt 9:38)

May God cause His Sunrise of truth in the gospel, faith in the gospel, and salvation through the gospel rise in North Africa.

This just in from the SNAP care team Deacon, Greg, who along with his wife and two teenage sons traveled this week to help the G’s move into North Africa.

“Planes, Trains and Automobiles; the G’s are safe and sound in port city just in time to celebrate Christmas. After packing, cleaning, moving 17 bags and 12 carry-ons, trains, planes and autos for 14 hours they are ready to start the work they have been preparing for.

Lots of settling in to do and work to be done but first looking forward to celebrate our Saviors birth with our families. We pray for our DSC family to have a beautiful time remembering the incarnation and a happy new year with friends and family.

Thank you for your prayers and support that makes this possible and may our Lord be glorified.”

Please Pray for the Christmas Stores

2014 | by Clint | Category: Christmas Store,Local,Love INC,Native American,Prayer

Tomorrow, one team of volunteers from Desert Springs will head to Counselor, New Mexico to partner with Cedar Hill Church as they offer a Christmas store to their neighborhood and community.  Another team of over 100 volunteers will setup a Christmas store here at Desert Springs Church in an effort to serve the parents of students at Mission, Alvarado, and La Luz Elementary schools.

Please pray with us that these stores will indeed be done in the name of Christ, and that those who come to the store would feel loved by Jesus through us.  Please pray that many will come to the Christmas Eve services, and that friendships are made and the gospel is proclaimed.

May God’s glory spread broader and deeper through these efforts!

Thanks to everyone who bought gifts and/or volunteered!

Praying for Living Water to Flow in Achi Land

Please pray with us for David, Kenny, and Gracyn:  One DSC grandpa, one DSC dad, and one DSC youth that are currently in Achi Land spreading the love of Jesus in the form of a “bucket filter” (mini water filter) designed by Sawyer and provided by gospel partners over at Viera Water Network.  Talks have been happening for over a year now about how DSC and Viera Water might be able to work together to bring clean water solutions to the poor (and many times sick) Achi folks.

Check out this video to learn more about how these filters work:

Sawyer Water filter video december 2014

A partnership vision trip was taken last summer, and a few pilot filters were installed.  We’ve been very pleased with how they are performing and Viera Water committed to sending down 50 more filters to be installed in the homes of Achi families.  These filters are designed to remove harmful bacteria that keep kids out of school and malnourished.  The filters are meant to last inevitably, as long as they are maintained properly with a daily backwash flush.

As our brother Eder Ixcopal from Achi Land has visited a dozen or so CGs, he’s shared the vision of having more of these filters distributed to families among his people as a ministry of the local churches.  In response, over $4000 has already been raised from DSC folks in this CG for future water filters.

If you’d like to give toward these water filters, simply go online here and designate your gift to “Guatemala projects” putting “water filters” in the memo line.  You can also use an envelope at church to designate your gift to “Achi water filters.”

By giving $50 for one water filter, you can ‘adopt’ an Achi family, and get a profile of the family so that you might be able to pray for their physical and spiritual health.  We will be collecting families profiles in the coming months, but you can start giving now.   We will keep track so that you are matched with a family.

Here are some fotos of our team of three in Achi land this week.  Please continue to pray that this mission be effective for the spread of God’s glory, broader and deeper.
