February 2015 Achi Pastors Conference – Day 3

2015 | by Clint | Category: Field Updates,Global,Prayer,Rabinal Achi
Pastor Clint updates us on the third and last Day of the Achi Pastor Conference:

The latest from Achi land!

Thank you all once again for praying.

God has indeed proven Himself good, wise, and powerful today. Our 2.5 day pastors’ training wrapped up this evening with three book giveaways (thanks to 9marks Ministries and The Gospel Coalition – International Outreach!). The pastors seemed eager to receive their books and very grateful for the time we spent together looking deeper into God”s Word, learning the basics of expositional preaching, and reorienting the priority of the local church back to the proclamation of the Scriptures week in and week out.It really seemed as if lights were coming on for many of the pastors here.

We are grateful to God for teaching us and them this week just like we (and you all) asked. God has indeed proven Himself faithful to His Word and to His people.Perhaps the best time of the training has been the small group times. These groups met in between our general instruction times and the engagement from the pastors seemed to grow with each new small group assignment.

Bart was able to slip away this afternoon with Dr. Jacobo in order to help reinstall a water pump for a small community, and collect some beautiful hand woven Achi scarves from a weaving coop. (Watch for these going on sale for Mother’s Day this year at DSC to support the Achi weavers and our efforts in North Africa.)

We plan, Lord willing, to return in June for more training. Until then, please continue to thank God for this training and ask Him to use these pastors and their congregations to spread God”s glory broader and deeper.

For now it’s four hours of sleep then on the road early to the city for our afternoon flight home tomorrow.  Thank you all for praying for and with us and these pastors.  God is great and greatly to be praised!
