Pastors Conference Wrap Up

2015 | by Clint | Category: Field Updates,Global,Rabinal Achi,Trips

As the pastoral training in Achi land comes to a close, Pastor Clint writes:

Tuesday was the second and last day of pastoral training here in Achi land. Pastor Clint taught on the mission of the church, and Pastor Tim Ragsdale taught more in depth on the nine marks of the healthy church. The pastors had two more small group times which were productive according to the leaders of those groups. We had another time of Q&A as well.

After the pastors’ training ended we had dinner and played a couple more hours of futbol. The last hour it poured down rain on us the entire time.

Wednesday morning we met and debriefed with the small group leaders. It was a good time to celebrate what God is up to as well as ask for more. We also talked extensively about how to help the pastors take what we’ve covered and share it with their churches and leaders. There were a few ideas that we will try to implement in the coming months.

Thank you all for praying for us and for these pastors, leaders, and churches. They face difficult things every day. We pray that the truth of the gospel and Jesus’ promise to return and make all things right comforts them and us until we meet again.

June 2015 Achi Pastors Training Day 1

2015 | by Clint | Category: Global,Prayer,Rabinal Achi,Training

On Sunday night Pastor Clint and a few other DSC members shared dinner with over 70 church leaders. Clint writes:

Monday morning we began this our second pastoral training among the Achi pastors in 2015.

The topic of this training is the local church.

1. The marks of the true church.

2. The marks of the healthy church.

3. The purpose of the local church (worship, community and mission).

Here are some photos from today:

DSC member Brett Landis teaches on the nature, importance of, and elements of worship in the local church. Think ‘adoration of God in Christ through all of life and belief in response to the gospel.’

Dr. David Sills from Southern Seminary and Reaching and Teaching Ministries teaches the marks of the true church.

Please continue to pray for these 50+ pastors and other 20+ church leaders. We pray that their understanding of the nature and purpose of the local church will grow through this teaching and that they will be encouraged in their ministries by God’s Spirit, through God’s Word.
