Barrera Bulletin April 2016

2016 | by Clint | Category: Field Updates,Giving Opportunity,Global,Rabinal Achi

Here is the latest news from Rodrigo and Carol Barrera, our missions partners to the Rabinal Achi:

Yes! We arrived in Guatemala. (Return date – June 22nd)

During our two-month stay, we hope
*to re-connect with a large network of Achi friends, including the Old Testament translation team, pastors, neighbors, and the dozens of young people and children who call us “abuelitos” (grandparents). Pray that we will be given the wisdom to counsel and encourage them to follow Jesus.
*to receive an anticipated avalanche of Achi visitors, while still making progress in checking and making editorial suggestions for the last third of the Psalms (101-150). (Psalms 50-100 will be checked by the international consultants the first two weeks of May.)
*to host a Mayan speaker in an event promoting emotionally healthy ministry
*to host a young lady whose specialty is in arts/music
*to host at different times our friends Beth (involved in helping a weaving co-operative), the Gregorys (who have water and other projects) and a young lady who works with Faith Comes by Hearing
*for Rodrigo to impact secondary and university students by speaking in schools
*to come along-side medical teams from Albuquerque the first week of June
*to play a supporting role in a pastoral training session the second week of June
*to promote the use of the Achi New Testament and foment excitement for the completion of the whole Bible in Achi
*to keep physically well in an environment where dengue, Zika virus, chikungunya and parasites are prevalent.

On another front, by the time you get this, the recording of the Pentateuch in Achi should be finished! Pray for the process of getting it edited and reproduced.

We are counting on your prayers and support for our time in Guatemala,
